| Description: | The life and times of Olive Thomas silent movie star and Ziegfeld Follies girl. |
Welcome to the Olive Thomas comminity on Live Journal!

I was born in 1894 in Charleroi PA. to Mike and Laurena Duffy. My father died when i was fairly young and mother remarried. We moved to McKees Rock near Pittsburgh when at about 16 I married Bernard Thomas while working at Horne's Dept store.
I left Bernard for New York where I was discovered by artist like Harrison Fisher and Alberto Vargas who in turn got me discovered by Florence Ziegfeld who put me in several of his shows. I soon moved on to motion pictures working for Selznick's Triangle studio.
A while after divorcing Bernie I met and married Jack Pickford (brother of the famous Mary Pickford).
We had a belated honeymoon in Paris when after a night of partying I accidentally took some of Jack's mercury bichloride tablets (ouch) and after a gruelling week in hospital passed on into the spirit word.
I'm feeling much better now - thank you
I've taken to haunting some of my old stomping grounds. Back in the late 50's I dropped in on the some stagehands at the New Amsterdam Theater.
I recently discovered the Internet - how fun!
